While the rest of the country is suffering through the harsh polar vortex, here in sunny Florida we have been experiencing some really amazing weather the last few days. No I’m not bragging, but it isn’t called the “Sunshine State” for nothing! The mid-day temps have been ranging in the 80’s, which of course made me want a cold drink. Since it’s strawberry season here, I decided to whip together a couple of these strawberry limeades. A little sweet and a little tangy, with a nice frothy layer on top, this is definitely my new favorite drink.
One of my favorite things about using the blender is the look on my kids faces when I hit the on button. It is always the same look of joy and wonder, followed immediately by a smile. It used to bewilder me how my daughter could be afraid of the vacuum cleaner but not the blender, since they are both pretty loud. But the vacuum has never turned out a tasty drink, so I get it. It doesn’t matter what I make, a smoothie, milkshake or even pureed soup, if it comes out of the blender – she needs it!
Speaking of which, this strawberry limeade is a delicious refreshing drink perfect for cooling off on a hot afternoon or even when you need to trick yourself into thinking the weather is warmer. I even froze some of the leftovers (the recipe makes 2 servings) as popsicles and I can’t wait to eat those too. If you’re looking for another fruity drink to cool off with, let me recommend this Watermelon Lime Frappe, its equally satisfying and delicious; I hope you’ll enjoy!
