Strawberries, blueberries and cherries combine together with orange juice and chia seeds for the perfect morning pick me up.
I love this time of year in Florida and not just because the temperatures are significantly better than the rest of the country. I’m talking about strawberry season; it starts right around Christmas and lasts until the first week or so of April. Fresh picked strawberries just make me smile. I love eating them plain, baking with them and have been known to dip my fair share into some chocolate. This week my allergies have really been giving me a run for my money and today is no exception! I have been living in some what of a fog until my daily dose of meds kicks in. One thing I love when I’m feeling a bit under the weather is a good smoothie, I think I have had one almost everyday this week! Getting in your fruits and veggies is always more simple when you throw them into the blender, I mean – who doesn’t like smoothies? Even my somewhat picky toddler will happily sip down a good spinach packed one. Today I am sharing my latest smoothie obsession, Mixed Berry Super Smoothie; a blend of strawberries, cherries and blueberries.
Lucky for me I can get my hands on some really delicious fresh strawberries for the time being and I found a good deal on some frozen cherries and blueberries (I can’t wait for May when blueberry season starts too!). Mix these berries together with a bit of juice and some chia seeds and you’ve got yourself one tasty little drink. Enjoy one for breakfast, lunch or a mid-afternoon snack; I think I’ll go wash my blender again so I can!
