Today is the final day of the 4th of July recipe series and I saved one of my favorite things for the last theme, Festive Drinks – Lemonade! Watermelon Lemonade to be exact. Words can barely describe how much I LOVE lemonade. When I was pregnant with my daughter during, specifically in the second trimester I drank so much lemonade, I had grown tired of drinking all that water and needed to switch it up a bit. Most days is was just the County Time powder mix from my desk drawer, but man was it delicious. This drink is a fresh summer twist on a classic; slightly tart, sweet and oh so satisfying. Whether you serve this lemonade at your cookout on wednesday or any time, I hope you’ll enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 c watermelon, cubed
1/3 c ice
2 Tbs lemon juice
1 Tbs granulated sugar
Directions:
In your blender add the watermelon, ice, lemon juice, sugar and puree until almost smooth. I think a little chunky texture is nice, but do what you like best. Serve immediately, I alternated mine with layers of frozen blueberries.
p.s. Sorry for the terrible photo, I forgot until 8:15 last night that I had forgotten to prepare something, yikes!
