An easy Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Fudge recipe just like grandma used to make. Only 3 ingredients and so delicious, perfect for sharing with friends!
A delicious old fashioned peanut butter fudge recipe just like grandma used to make.
When I was a very small child my great grandmother lived with us for a few years. She used to make some of the most magical recipes, one recipe that has always been a family favorite is her Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Fudge. I can’t tell you how many times I have had this treat, it is so simple and delicious (and sometimes temperamental too).
I am not kidding about that last one either, I remember being taught this recipe in my teenage years and the advice to not attempt it during that special time of the month. Whether her advice can be considered an old wives tale or if it’s the harsh humidity of Florida at play, all I can tell you is her advice was good. In the many years I  have been making and enjoying this Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Fudge I have had my fair share of fails, but I know how delicious it really is so I have never let it discourage me too much.
We always made this old fashioned peanut butter fudge in the same green Jadeite pie pan when I was a kid, I loved that pan. For years I would tell my mom that one day the pie pan would be mine and finally a couple of years ago my dream came true. All thanks to my dad for bringing it to me on one of his visits! I love fudge, as you may or may not already know and this old fashioned peanut butter fudge is the reason for my addiction. It is sweet, creamy and filled with delicious peanut butter flavor; I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as my family and I do!

This is a fantastic recipe! Turned out great on the first try. After stirring away from heat for 2 minutes it was still quite glossy so I used a hand held mixer for another minute before pouring into plate. I also enjoyed the story behind the fudge. Thank you for sharing ❤️

Oh emm gee! You do not even know just how happy you have just made my family. See, when I was young we grew up with my grandmother..and Girl could she cook! One of everyone’s absolute favorites was her PEANUT BUTTER FUDGE! After she passed away I looked and looked and could never find the recipe she used for hers. I tried plenty different ones, and they just weren’t it. I was looking again and came upon yours…and as soon as I started reading the memories started slowly But as soon as that smell hit me! It was like I was back in her kitchen and I could remember her setting the 5 minute timer and reminding me “that’s the most important part now Gina..keep stirring!” Thanks so much Emily ❤🙏

Cathy I do not think the recipe will turn out right if you use a sweetener substitute, but I’ve never tried it – so if you do I’d love to hear if it sets up.

updating, after stilling over night this fudge did just what I wanted to do. When I was in high school they served peanut butter Fudge that was really dry and looked like a fried up eraser , it was the best. I have been out of school for over 30 years and me and my school mates still talk about the fudge. I have one classmate that went to work for the school and has the recipe but it is to serve 800 and she has attempted many times to break it down and it never comes out right. Thank you again for sharing this recipe. This is the closest yet !!! I love it

I can remember my mom making this on a cold snowy Colorado night. She used powdered sugar and would make a batch of popcorn to go with it. Great memories.

Thank you so much for sharing this recipe! My grandmother made it all the time and had given me her recipe but somehow I had lost it. My grandmother died in 2001 and I had never gotten the recipe from her again. This is the closest to her recipe (that I could remember). Now if only I had the glass dish she made it in! Thank you so much!

Thank You Emily for the recipe. I made this tonight. It did take a few minutes longer to make but maybe 10 min. I did boil it 2 min longer as it was not too thick but not sure if this was the way it was supposed to be, or if the brand of peanut butter made a difference and I believe it was the PB. I usually buy Jiff or a good organic brand that is solid. This one had the oil layer that you have to stir and it was not what I buy usually. Next had to beat about 5-7 min longer than stated so maybe 10-`12 min after taking off the stove. It set up after cooling a bit and then in the fridge about 1/2 hr. This recipe is excellent . It was so easy and not the longer soft ball stage preparation that take so long. I would definitely make this again and share the recipe. Tried it out on a friend who is critical of everything and he loved it. So simple and takes less than 20 -25 min. Follow the recipe as written don’t change it. 5 star( I always like to try the recipe before commenting )
