Pizza Pies

Filed Under: pie Tagged With: dinner, pizza

Last year for my birthday I received a Breville Personal Pie™ pie-maker, let’s just say we have put it to good use many times over the last year. I love anything miniature/individualized so it is no surprise when I say I love this little kitchen gadget. Along with the pie-maker, I also received a cookbook and a handy little spatula that lifts the pies out of the machine. I know exactly where the spatula is at all times, but between a curious little one and moving last year I just can’t seem to locate my cookbook. Sad I know, I hate it when that sort of thing happens and considering how many times we have moved over the last 3.5 years, I have lost misplaced a lot of things! Today I am happy to share with you a recipe for savory pies, my adaptation of the one in said cookbook, at least as far as I can remember it is, enjoy and happy baking!

Ingredients:

1 pie crust, I used store bought
1/2 c pizza sauce
1/3 c shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 c ham, diced

Directions:

Plug in your pie-maker, to let it preheat while you roll out the dough and slice it with the included cutter. Once the pie-maker is ready, working quickly, add the crust and fill with a spoonful of sauce, ham and cheese, top with more sauce and cheese. Once the pie-maker is filled, close the lid and let it bake for about 8-10 minutes, it will depend on the brand of pie-maker you are using as to exactly how hot/quickly it cooks. Remove the pies carefully, let cool 2-3 minutes and serve.

*Note: Change up the toppings to fit your tastes, you can adjust the amount of sauce to your liking as well; have fun and enjoy!

Yields 4 pizza pies

Have you tried this with the refrigerated pizza crust in a can? I wonder how that would work.

I haven’t, but if you do it would be better to use the thin crust and roll it out a bit to be similar to our crust I would think?
