It Bakes Me Happy

Heavenly Hash Brownies

Filed Under: brownie Tagged With: almond, bars, chocolate, marshmallow

These soft, gooey heavenly hash brownies are filled with chocolate, almonds and marshmallows; they make a dangerously delicious and satisfying dessert!
Growing up my dad only brought home two kinds of ice cream – Strawberry or Heavenly Hash. As a kid I never really appreciated the combination of delicious ingredients in Heavenly Hash. I’ll admit I used to eat around the almonds, so when I was finished only they remained, I know it was pathetic! Last week I attempted a new brownie recipe and let’s just say they were an epic fail. The dissatisfaction of that baking experience left me craving brownies for days until I finally broke down and tried again. This recipe is a different one from the failed and oh what a recipe it is. I may be a little obsessed with fancy brownies and these Heavenly Hash Brownies are no exception!
Maybe my obsession is just brownies in general? But whatever the case, they are probably my favorite dessert – aside from ice cream of course. Combine the two and what’s not to love? Like a gift from Heaven, these brownies are soft, gooey and satisfying. Serve them with a tall glass of milk, sit back relax and enjoy; happy baking!

Yield 9 brownies

Ingredients

  • 3/4 c granulated sugar
  • 1/3 c cocoa powder
  • 1/4 c oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3/4 c flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 4 Tbs marshmallow cream
  • 1/4 c almonds, chopped
  • 1/4 c chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350º and prepare an 8x8 baking pan with baking spray. In a large bowl combine the sugar, cocoa powder, oil, egg and vanilla. In a separate bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt; add the flour mixture into the chocolate. Spread the brownie batter into the pan, spoon the marshmallow cream on top and swirl into the batter with a knife. Sprinkle the almonds and chocolate chips over the batter and bake for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven, cool completely and serve.
