That’s right – another cinnamon recipe, oh come on you know you love them too! I was having my weekly dinner with my sister and she was telling me she had some cinnamon rolls in the fridge that she needed to use and a few apples, so we whipped this together. Let me just say this was a great idea on my sister’s part – and it turned out looking pretty cool too (although not how either of us envisioned it originally) plus it was tasty! Ok so if you are feeling like some apples and some cinnamon and a whole lot of sweet, here’s the recipe:
Apple Cinnamon Roll Surprise
Ingredients:
2 cans 5-count cinnamon rolls
2 small apples
4 0z cream cheese
1/2 c powdered sugar
3 tsp milk
Directions:
Preheat the oven according to cinnamon roll package directions. In a bowl combine the cream cheese, powdered sugar and milk and beat until smooth, about a minute or two with an electric mixer. Break the cinnamon rolls in half and form into strips, pinch the strips together at the middle and place on baking sheet. Peel and slice the apples thinly. Top the dough with a layer of sliced apples, then the cheese mixture and another layer of sliced apples. Join the strips of dough in an alternating braiding fashion, bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and cool five minutes, ice the top of the rolls with packaged cinnamon roll icing. Serve warm and enjoy!
