Need I say more? I mean who doesn’t love pizza? I would venture to say it is one of the greatest inventions EVER! – at least in the culinary world. Ok so to be completely honest the last few days I have actually been thinking about/craving calzones. I was feeling up to the task, so I whipped up some dough to make it a lunchtime reality. Unfortunately after a trip to the grocery store my sweet baby girl was a little restless, so I opted for pizza instead. What I like about this crust is that it isn’t too thick and it isn’t too thin, just right, and if you like it crispy just add a minute or two to the bake time. So now that your hungry and craving pizza, here’s the recipe, enjoy and happy baking!
Pizza Crust
————-
Ingredients:
½ c warm water
2 ¼ tsp instant yeast
= 1 envelope
1 ¼ c water, room temperature
2 tbs olive oil
4 c flour
1 ½ tsp salt
Directions:
Put the warm water into a 2 c glass measuring cup. Sprinkle in the yeast and let stand until the yeast dissolves and swells, around 5-6 minutes. Add room temperature water and oil and stir to combine. Next combine the flour and salt in a large bowl and whisk. Make a well in the mixture and pour the liquid ingredients in a little at a time. Once a ball forms, turn it out onto a lightly floured work surface and knead by hand for a few strokes to form a smooth, round ball. Put the dough in a oiled bowl and cover. Let rise until doubled in size, about an 1 ½ hours. Press the dough to deflate it, divide it into two and roll out for baking. Top with your favorite cheese and pizza toppings and bake at 450º for about 15-18 minutes, or until your desired crispness.
