All I can say is YUM! In our house we love pizza and all things like it, so we’ve kind of been eating these a lot lately. I mean a calzone is basically an inside out pizza right? Lunch, dinner, snack – whatever time it maybe, don’t walk, run and make you some of these!
Calzones
———–
Ingredients:
2 1/2 c flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 c warm water
2 Tbs yeast
1 Tbs honey
1 Tbs oil
2 Tbs marinara sauce
1/4 c shredded italian cheese
then whatever else you like, I’m obsessed with ham and pineapple right now
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 375º and line a pizza stone or cookie sheet with parchment paper. In a 2 cup measuring cup add the warm water, honey, and yeast, let it work its magic for about 5 minutes. In a large bowl combine the flour and salt, then add the yeast mixture and work it together with your fingers. Knead the dough into a ball and let it rise 1 hour in an oiled bowl. Once the dough is risen divide into 3 balls and let rise for another 10-15 minutes. Roll out the dough into a circle and fill half with the ingredients of your choice, fold the empty dough over and pinch the edges to seal. Cut a few vent holes and bake at 375º for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with marinara sauce if your into that sort of thing (I am), happy baking and enjoy!
